CHOOSE YOU THIS DAY

“Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve Him in sincerity and truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt and serve the Lord. And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

~ Joshua 24:14-15.

There is power in decision. Indecision is a sign of weakness and lack of vision. God always wants us to declare our stand with Him. He doesn’t want us to be like the Laodiceans church that were neither cold nor hot (Rev. 3:14-16), lest He spew us out. Christianity is a personal and deliberate decision to walk with the Lord and a severance from any devilish or worldly character.

Joshua spoke to the Israelites just as God is speaking to you today: CHOOSE you this DAY whom you will SERVE. I know what it means to serve God and what it means to serve “the gods that were on the other side of the flood”. I have served man before, I have served mammon before but to the glory of God I know who I am now serving. There is a clear distinction between light and darkness; in fact scripture says darkness could not understand the power of light (John 1:5). You can never appreciate light until you experience darkness. But the Lord says choose today light or darkness. It is so personal that Joshua said as for him and his family, they will serve the Lord even if all the people will hold on to their idols and the gods of their fathers. It is your turn to decide for Christ, to declare whom you are serving with your words and your works.

“Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, who is on the Lord’s side? Let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.” – Ex. 32:26.

The same moment of decision emerged during the days of Moses. The people sinned and God judged them. Moses declared, “who is on the Lord’s side? Let him come unto me.” Jesus also said – “come unto me”. If you will be on the Lord’s side then you must decamp from the world, from tradition and from any satanic association. All the Levites did, one twelfth of the nation decamped and were bestowed with the priestly ministry which we all can enjoy now in Christ (Rev. 1:6) . To decamp is to take a deliberate step to seek the Lord. You have served tradition, men and religion enough. I invite you today to join the glorious chariot, which is “without the camp”.

“And Moses took the tabernacle, and pitched it without the camp, afar off from the camp, and called it the Tabernacle of the Congregation. And IT CAME TO PASS, THAT EVERY ONE WHICH SOUGHT THE LORD WENT OUT UNTO THE TABERNACLE OF THE CONGREGATION WHICH WAS WITHOUT THE CAMP.” – Ex. 33:7

It is no news that the Lord has left the camp but the good news is that He is still reachable to those that will turn to Him. The key is very simple, seek Him and you shall find Him as you move out of the camp.

Finally, hear what Elijah said:

“How long halt ye between two opinions? If the Lord be God, follow Him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.” – 1 Kings 18:21.

Silence means consent. They kept quiet because they were between two opinions. Two opinions because of fear, faithlessness and lust of the flesh. When they later discovered that Baal could not save them they repented (1 Kings 18:39).

The Lord is calling you to choose today between Him and idol, between light and darkness because you cannot serve God and mammon together. If I were you, I will go before the Lord to reveal my spiritual state to me, if I am found wanting then I will take the following steps:

  1. Ask the Lord to forgive me and receive me as His son.
  2. Ask the Lord to lead me through the Holy Spirit.
  3. Deliberately disassociate myself from the previous relationship, and
  4. Place myself under a good spiritual leader that will nurture me in faith.

May I invite you to step out for the Lord Jesus Christ today. A choice for Christ is eternity secured. You must be on the Lord’s side because AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE, WE WILL SERVE THE LORD.

Jesus is Lord.
