THE DYNAMICS OF TIME

Is there not an appointed time to man upon earth” Job 7:1.

As we sojourn here on planet earth, it is only expedient that we understand some precepts upon which our odyssey is predicated. One and foremost of such is the dynamism of time.

The sovereign Lord in His wisdom has made man to be his subject in the porter’s hand. It is only good for us to understand his unchangeable way. This is Exodus 2005, there can not be exodus (movement) as it were without the precedence of time. The scripture recorded that at the appointed time, he sent Christ Jesus into the world. Events that time fore-run cannot be over-emphasized; far before the Israelite were sold into bondage in Egypt, God told Abraham Gen. 15:13: “And he said unto Abraham, know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them that is not theirs and they shall afflict them four hundred years? What an astounding God we serve; who knoweth the end from the beginning.

The Lord had spelt out the time of their affliction as to their redemption and vindication all with a purpose. They shall be surely oppressed for four hundred years.

Time. In Ecclesiastes Chapter 3, we saw an explicit description of the different stages of life. It was such a discreet and vivid analysis that covers all human experiences and endeavours. Are you mourning today? You sure going to come out of it. Were you made to possess months of vanity and wearisome nights appointed unto thee? You wonder when you shall arise, and the night be gone? Full of tossing to and fro unto the dawning of the day.

Be courageous and be strong. Soon, you shall enter into the dance of them that make merry and rejoice like when there is a great spoil.

Who can fathom the depth of his wisdom? Eccl. 3:11, “he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end”. We can not understand and therefore fruitless for us to stutter. Our obligation is to align ourselves with His word to find joy in our relevance on earth.

So long the earth remains, seed time and harvest time shall not cease. Strong imagery were often used to depict the time of man. In Ps. 1:3, ‘And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, his leafs also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper’. The word ‘season’ is synonymous with ‘time’.

There were time in the life of a plant/tree when there is no conspicuous evidence of fruitfulness in the physical. The duration of this time varies depending on the species of such plant. Let’s take the Chinese bamboo tree as an example. During the first four years, they water and fertilize the plant with seemingly little or no results. Then, in the fifth year, as they again apply water and fertilizer and in five weeks’ the tree grows ninety feet in height? The obvious question is, “Do the Chinese bamboo tree grow ninety feet in five weeks or five years?”. If at any time during those five years, the people had stopped watering and fertilizing the tree, it would have died.

Consequently, it is pertinent, however, to note that the quality of a fruit is a function of how long it takes before fruiting. The palm-tree invest years before fruiting but once it enters into fruiting and yielding, it endures into generations.

Can God be queried? In his magnanimity and greatness hath he made all things to be beautiful in his time. He is trustworthy, believe it. He selflessly empties himself unto us; to see His will and mission fulfilled in us., what a God? The Lord of all season and time. You soon will discover that your adversity and affliction is like yesterday that is gone.

Be still and know that I AM THE LORD.
